Bizportal works as a partner to the US team of a UK-based SaaS consultancy company developing a web-based application for monitoring of financial software cloud migration. End-client is a major US bank. The project is focused on developing a web-based application for monitoring of cloud migration of various financial software products. The project is long-term and we look for a full-time employee.
We are looking for a full-time Technical Writer to work under contract for BizPortal Ltd. As a Technical Writer, you'll be preparing instruction manuals, wiki articles, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information more easily between the technical team, project management and customers. They also develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, designers, and manufacturers.
Technical writers would do the following:
Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation
Organize and write supporting technical documents for products
Write wiki articles
Participate in testing of software products
Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers
Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers
Revise documents as new issues arise
Skills & Requirements
3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer or similar position
Excellent written and spoken English (proof of language proficiency could be a higher education degree from an English speaking country and/or relevant language certificates)
Minimum 1 year exposure and/or educational background in software engineering and related fields and/or projects
Some manual QA/testing experience is recommended
Experience with writing wiki articles is recommended
Strong analytical, problem-identification and process analysis skills
Communication skills. Must be able to take complex, technical information and translate it for colleagues and consumers who have nontechnical backgrounds.
Detail oriented. Must create detailed instructions for others to follow. As a result, they must be detailed and precise at every step so that the instructions can be useful.
Imagination. Must be able to think about a procedure or product in the way that a person without technical experience would think about it.
Teamwork. Must be able to work well with others. They are almost always part of a team: with other writers; with designers, editors, and illustrators; and with the technical people whose information they are explaining.
Technical skills. Must be able to understand and then explain highly technical information. Many technical writers need a background in engineering or computer science in order to do this.
Writing skills. Must have excellent writing skills to be able to explain technical information clearly.
